What to Do in San Francisco

The city of San Francisco is so much fun to explore! Sincerely, I've never met a visitor who didn't fall head over heels in love with the city by the time they moved there. It's fantastic, especially with all the Best Things to do in San Francisco free activities spread out across the city.

This is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world because of its stunning hilly landscape with the ocean as a backdrop and its wonderful inhabitants. Although there is no shortage of the best things to do in the city, it can be a little more difficult to locate some of the free activities in San Francisco. This is precisely the reason I wanted to share my top pick after numerous visits.

To that end, I've put together a list of San Francisco's top free activities. Have a wonderful trip!

1.) See The Golden Gate Bridge:- The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most recognisable bridges in the world and the most recognisable landmark in San Francisco. When it's light out, you can cross it for free. You can bike across it whenever you want, day or night.

Unless you're really keen on the exercise, most visitors will walk about halfway across the bridge, snap a few photos, and then head back to the city. Additionally, it's one of the San Francisco free activities that you can do without spending a dime!

2.) Explore Fisherman’s Wharf:- Fisherman's Wharf, a neighbourhood and well-liked tourist destination, is situated on San Francisco's northern waterfront. Built on the ruins of the devastating earthquake that destroyed the city in 1906, the region quickly gained notoriety for its Fishing Fleet, which has been in operation for at least three generations.

The Dungeness crab, whose annual harvest starts in November, is the catch that Fisherman's Wharf is most well-known for.

3.) Head over to Pier 39:- Yes, this location is somewhat within Fisherman's Wharf, but it merits a separate mention because of the seals.

It is definitely worth taking a stroll through Pier 39, which is a vibrant mixture of sights, sounds, and smells (of the stinky seals). Additionally, if you feel like taking a stroll, it's undoubtedly one of the San Francisco attractions that are free to enjoy.

The Hotel Zeppelin, located in the heart of San Francisco, is a pretty hip and cool hotel. The rooms are lively!

4.) Drive down Lombard Street:- Lombard Street, which can be found in the neighbourhoods between Russian Hill, North Beach, and Fisherman's Wharf, is arguably the most intriguing and well-known street in San Francisco (and possibly all of California?).

Why is it so well-known? In order to make the hill less steep for cars and pedestrians crossing it, landscaped flowerbeds were built in 1922 on Lombard Street, which is well-known for its eight hairpin turns. The 600 foot (182 m) long road has a 5 mph speed limit and is flanked by stunning Victorian homes.

5.) Spend time on the beach:- Given that San Francisco is bordered by water on three sides, it should come as no surprise that the city has some stunning beaches. On a sunny day, it's undoubtedly among the free things to do in San Francisco.

What could be better than walking around a beach on the Pacific Coast for no money at all? West of San Francisco, close to the Richmond neighbourhood, is Ocean Beach, which offers a lovely beachfront location directly on the Pacific.
